Fed Cuts Rates & Dow Drops 1,100 Points

Yesterday was an “interesting” day. The Federal Reserve cut rates 25 bps to a target range of 4.25% - 4.5%. Normally a rate cut would result in a market rally but instead the Dow tanked 1,100 points and the 10-Year Treasury jumped to 4.5%. The Fed signaled fewer rate cuts in 2025 so the market reacted negatively. This just shows that the market is more sensitive to what the Fed might do in the future than what it actually does in the present. 🤔

What does this mean for deal volume going into 2025? Not much, the investment world is still very excited about deal making prospects for next week with a resurgence in M&A activity and IPO’s. We expect to be busy.
