Petition to Invest in SpaceX
If you've been following our emails you know that Nate has been working on financing structures for space real estate and space assets, (yes, outer space!). But what about Space X?Spaced Ventures, an equity crowdfunding platform focused solely on space, launched a campaign to allow retail and accredited investors to invest in SpaceX.
SpaceX achieved a rare $125 billion pre-money valuation after its last equity round in May; the highest for any U.S. startup. And, just last week, they successfully launched another 4 astronauts, including the first Native American woman, into space as part of their Crew-5 mission to the International Space Station for NASA. This marks the 44th orbital launch and the 8th astronaut mission for SpaceX, whose claim to fame is a drastic reduction in launch costs thanks to the reusability of its rockets. The company has no intention of slowing down; next on the docket are launches of its Starship; a massive rocket intended for everything from high speed Earth transportation (think New York to Paris in 30 minutes) to launching as many as 100 astronauts to the moon - and eventually to Mars - at once. Starship will be the railroad to space! Also the expansion of Starlink; a satellite constellation that promises reliable, low latency, broadband internet and mobile phone service all over the world.
By Launching a public Petition, Spaced Ventures has been able to amass over 1,068 SpaceX investor hopefuls who have pledged over $17 million in order to convince SpaceX to offer a public allocation in their next round. The platform has also been able to attract over $80 million in private interest, which means they are now approaching SpaceX with a total interest of over $100 million.
